Woking moved to within a single point of leaders Torquay, and picked up their first league win in the last three games after completing a comfortable victory against struggling East Thurrock United on Saturday.

First half goals from Dave Tarpey and Greg Luer alongside a stoppage time header from Jake Hyde secured the points for the hosts

Woking made two changes to the side that suffered an agonising stoppage time loss to Dartford on Tuesday. Greg Luer and Bradley Hudson-Odoi made the starting line up alongside Ben Gerring and Armani Little who both saw red on Tuesday, but both their suspensions won’t commence until next week.

The Cards were on the front foot from the start of the game and carved out the first chance of the match in the 13th minute following a corner, the ball fell to Dave Tarpey who saw his shot acrobatically tipped over the bar from Jake Giddens.  Five minutes later Tarpey opened his Woking account after his shot across goal nestled into the bottom corner of the net.

Woking doubled their advantage in the 34th minute as Tarpey turned provider with a lovely weighted pass to Luer who dinked the ball over the keeper. The Rocks were almost handed a chance of grabbing a goal back before the break, when Sam Ashford’s shot was punched away by Craig Ross.

In the early exchanges of the second half the Rocks started to get back into the contest, despite not testing Ross. The Cards almost had a third after Little played in Tarpey, with the Barnet loanee one on on with the keeper, but this time he was denied by the Rocks stopper.

The Cards made the game safe on the stroke of full time following a Little free kick which found an unmarked Jake Hyde eight yards out, who sent a simple header past Giddens to secure the points for the Cards.
