Woking’s winless run stretched to seven games but were well worth their point after battling back from a goal down in a very entertaining encounter at the Laithwaite.

In a tepid opening to the match that took twenty five minutes to burst into life, it was the visitors who had the first clear cut chance of the game when Luke Young’s exquisite volley from twenty yards out was brilliantly tipped over by Craig Ross, with the ball heading towards the top corner.

Moments later Woking threatened following a corner that saw Jake Hyde’s header cleared of the line by Adam Barton. The Cards went close once again to taking the lead when Shaun Donnellan’s long-range effort was tipped away by Christian Dibble. The Red Dragons responded with Jason Oswell’s shot cleared of the line by Moussa Diarra. But despite chances from both sides and both goalkeepers called into action, it remained goalless at the break.

The visitors were out of the traps quickly at the restart and within three minutes had taken the lead when James Jennings hard and low shot beat Ross. Wrexham continued to turn the screw with Luke Summerfield a whisker away and Jason Orwell’s cushioned header clawed away by Ross.

Jennings almost grabbed his second of the afternoon but was denied by an alert Ross as the visitors continued to dominate. Cards Manager Alan Dowson made a double change by bringing on Paul Hodges and Ibrahim Meite. The double substitutions seemed to wrestle the initiative away from Wrexham with Tarpey going close for the hosts and Loza’s thunderous shot clawed away by Dibble.

The cards eventually drew level when Donnellan’s  cross into the box was deflected home by Kane Ferdinand. Seconds later it was the turn of the visitors to almost regain the lead, but Mark Harris’s header hit the post.

Despite both sides pushing for the winner, it wasn’t to be for either as both teams took a point from the game.
