Essex slipped to a 301 runs defeat to Nottinghamshire at Chelmsford in their latest Specsavers County Championship match.
Nottinghamshire won the toss and elected to bat. The visitors made 380, with Ross Taylor making his first championship century for Nottinghamshire with 146. Simon Harmer picked up 4-78 for the home side.
Essex, slumped to 26 for 3 with Veraun Chopra(0), Tom Westley(8) and Dan Lawrence(1) back in the pavilion. Essex were rescued by 69 from Ravi Bopara, but still conceded a first innings deficit of 174.
The visitors made 266 in their second innings with Tom Moores top scoring with 87. Essex were set an imposing 442 for victory and started of badly as the visitors reduced them to 31-3. Eventually Essex were dismissed for 139, with Matt Milnes taking 4-44 to wrap up a comprehensive victory for Notts, to move them up to second in the table.
