Guildford Flames claimed the extra point on offer after completing a 2-1 victory in overtime against the visiting Glasgow Clan at the Spectrum on Sunday.
After the Scottish side had put an end to Flames six game winning run on Saturday after securing a 5-3 victory, the Surrey based outfit were out for swift revenge.
Clan opened the scoring after five minutes on the powerplay when a Guillaume Doucet’s one timer went into the net.
In the 2nd period Flames had a couple of powerplay chances of their own but couldn’t get on to the board as the visitors took the narrowest of margins into the break.
Flames tried to break down a strong Clan defence, and it looked like that the one goal would be enough to claim the win until with just under six minutes remaining Kevin King won a faceoff with Jordan Abt hammering home the equaliser to send the game into overtime.
Flames weathered an early overtime penalty kill, then were left with a 3 on 3 until Jesse Craige threaded an inch perfect cross ice pass for Ian Watters to tap in to secure the extra point.
