Belfast Giants maintained their position at the top of the Elite League table after completing a 4-1 road victory against the Guildford Flames at the Spectrum on Sunday.
The result was harsh on Flames, who had been competitive throughout sixty minutes of hockey, with the visitors scoring a last-minute pair of empty net goals.
Giants opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Darcy Murphy netted. On 11:52 Flames drew level when Brett Ferguson scored. The second period looked like being a goalless period until Belfast re took the lead late in the period.
With Flames pushing for an equaliser the hosts pulled Travis Fullerton to add the extra skater. In the final minute of the period Blair Riley scored into the vacant net with David Rutherford adding a fourth for the leaders to complete a road victory.
It was better news for Flames 24 hours earlier after the Surrey side completed a 3-0 victory in Scotland against the Glasgow Clan, with Travis Fullerton turning aside 29 shots.
