Scorchers suffer another home loss. 3rd February 2019

Surrey Scorchers suffered another loss at home after Plymouth Raiders completed a 112-98 victory for their tenth in the League.

Scorchers paraded new signing Joe-Junior Mvuezolo, who has joined for the remainder of the BBL season. Mvuezolo, made his debut for the Surrey outfit who couldn’t live with a very fast start from the Raiders. The visitors racked up an impressive 40 points in the opening ten minutes of the game, putting  themselves firmly in control of the game. By the end of the opening quarter they found themselves leading by a healthy 13 points at 40-27.

Raiders stretched their advantage to 19 points in the second quarter before Scorchers reduced the deficit to 13 points at the break as Plymouth went into the buzzer leading 70-53.

Despite some three-point throws from Caylin Raftopolos it was the visitors who held firm by leading by 19 points with the final quarter to come.

A late fightback from Scorchers wasn’t enough as they slipped to defeat against Plymouth. Raiders were efficient from inside the arc with a 66% record. They also had the top points corer of the afternoon in Rashad Hassan with 34 points with Josh Wilcher picking up 19 assists as well as 19 points. For Scorchers, Quincy Taylor top scored with a 26 point haul with Tayo Ogedengbe and Mo Williams scoring 17 points.
