Surrey continued their unbeaten start to this seasons Specsavers County Championship, after completing an innings and 58 runs victory against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.
Surrey won the toss on the opening morning of the match and decided to bat first. The visitors made 368 with the prolific run machine Rory Burns hitting 151 and Ben Foakes making 90. Burns, who is in the form of his life, is now the highest run scorer in the championship. For the hosts, the impressive Fidel Edwards finished with 5-93.
Hampshire were bowled out for 135, with Rene Rossouw the only batsman who could come to terms with the all-round Surrey attack. Rikki Clarke, who appears back to his best form, picked up 5-29.
Surrey had no hesitation to enforce the follow on. The decision was vindicated when the home side followed on 233 runs behind and were bowled out for 175 with Joe Weatherley top scoring with a half century. Morne Morkel claimed 3-37 and Amar Virdi took 3-23 as Surrey wrapped up victory on the final day to move to the top of the County Championship.
