Have been interested in sport for many a year. Started my radio career in local hopspital radio, a very long time ago. From hospital radio I went to help at a few local commercial radio stations including Essex FM, where I was asked to do cricket commentaries on Essex. Having done this for a whole season I moved on to be one of the very successful BBC Essex commentary team. I then moved in to freelance sports media work, involving reporting on Football with Leyton Orient and Woking. Cricket with Middlesex, Surrey and Essex. Rugby with Harlequins, along with Ice Hockey with the Guildford Flames and Speedway with the Lakeside Hammers. During my work in radio, I have had the pleasure of not just reporting from sporting events with updates and full time reports, but have interviewed so many interesting people.
In the next few weeks we will be following the fortunes of Surrey United in the British Basketball League. Yet another sport for us to cover, which I am really looking forward to.
Hi, as you guys already know my name is Jacob Hutchinson and I am the sports assistant at Kool AM. Over the past few years I have been very privileged to have covered many different sports and great sporting occasions with Kool AM, for example following the epic rise of Woking FC. From an average Conference South side, flirting with promotion on two occasions to finally lifting the coveted Conference South title in front of over four thousand at Kingfield was a day I will never forget, and with the Cards under the already legendary leadership of Garry Hill and Steve Thompson the future is only positive for all Woking fans and the dream of reaching the promise land of the Football League may not be so far away.
In addition, for the past two summers while the footballers are having their holidays I have had the honour of reporting on England’s two most historic counties in Surrey and Middlesex. Interviewing and mixing with the elite of English cricket was at first daunting but as the months went by my confidence grew and with the help of my more experienced collages I am now at ease with speaking to the likes of Kevin Pietersen and Graham Smith and Alistair Cook.
Yet some of my fondest memories with Kool AM have been the immensely popular ‘Sport Podcast,’ with either Peter Moore or as seen during this summer’s World Cup my friends, who from time to time chipped in to simply chat, examine and debate about all 64 games of the tournament, at Kool we love nothing better than a good debate about anything to do with sport!
But this is not the end, as always at Kool AM we are reaching out to new exciting sports for example beginning in the autumn Basketball will be a regular part of the website. For the winter months the epic combination of myself and Peter will be covering Surrey United in the British Basketball Division One a division full of drama and excitement, it is certainly not one to be missed.
Business Manager in a school for work, avid sports fan for play. Originally a fan of the round ball game standing on the terraces at Spurs and can occasionally be found in a football ground. I’ve been a London Broncos fan for 18 years and generally watch as much rugby league as I can fit in during the season. That is when I’m not watching cricket as an Essex member and England fan. I hold a season ticket for Saracens but again watch as much union as I can, often finding myself at the Stoop watching Harlequins. I like to think I’m fair and unbiased when writing about the sports I love!
