Surrey’s youngsters star in win against Yorkshire.

Surrey completed their second County Championship victory of the season after condemning Yorkshire to an innings and 17 run defeat at the Kia Oval.
The visitors choose to bowl first, but their decision seemed to have back fired on them as the hosts made 414 with 20 year-old Ollie Pope making a career best 158 not out, with Rikki Clarke hitting 71. The impressive Pope has already scored 427 Championship runs at an average of 85.40. Yorkshire were bowled out for 229 with Jonny Bairstow top scoring with 95. Sam Curran- who was presented with his county cap during the game- took 6-54.
Surrey decided to enforce the follow on with Yorkshire still 185 runs behind, which was vindicated when Jade Dernbach took the wicket of opener Alex Less with just his second delivery. The visitors recovered to 99-4 before eventually being bowled out for 168 with Curran taking 4-74 to give him impressive match figures of 10-128. Another impressive Surrey youngster Amar Virdi backed Curran up well be weighing in with figures of 3-52 to set Surrey on their way to their first championship victory over the white rose county for 17 years.
